As a reward for your patience over the weekend, especially to all of you who are back to the grind today, today's pronunciation poll comes with a bonus question!
Poll #724758Succinct
Open to: All, detailed results viewable to: All, participants: 113
Which of the following best reflects how you pronounce the word 'succinct'?
I prounounce them the same way, with equal stress on both, but without the double "ss" sound that would be suhss-sinkt or flass-ssid (excuse my ignorance concerning the proper sound spellings).
When I saw the title, I went, "suck-SINKT" in my mind, but I recognize that I usually use sus-SINKT because I speak too quickly to pronounce extra stuff.
This is because I'm a weird Francophone, no doubt, but I pronounce it "suck-SINT." The "c" is silent in my world, and offhand I believe it might not even exist in French.
